HEIC is the silent offender

An iPhone can save a photo as HEIC even when the thumbnail looks ordinary. The format is efficient, but older application portals, email workflows, CMS editors, and Windows software may reject the file or fail to create a preview. Converting that source to JPG produces a widely accepted copy without asking you to upload the image to a conversion service.

Zestkit detects HEIC and HEIF from the selected file, decodes it in the browser, and lets you export JPG, PNG, or WebP. Keep the original HEIC as your source. Use JPG for broad photographic compatibility, PNG when the next workflow needs lossless pixels, and WebP when the destination explicitly supports it.

Common uses

  • Prepare submission images for portals that reject iPhone HEIC files
  • Turn scanned identity or application photos into a widely accepted JPG
  • Create CMS-ready JPG, PNG, or WebP assets without a desktop editor
  • Make image attachments easier to open in email and messaging workflows

Format tips

  • JPG has no transparency, so transparent source areas are placed on a white background.
  • PNG keeps transparent pixels and sharp interface edges, but photographic files are often larger.
  • WebP is efficient for web images, but confirm the receiving system accepts it before converting.
  • SVG is well suited to logos and vector artwork; it is not a photographic output format.
